EXCEL BODY WORKS is a family owned and operated business which was established over 28 years ago.

Ashley Zerner purchased the business from his employer in December  1971 whilst completing his fourth year as an apprentice panel beater.
At this time the business was operating from
the lower level of an old Esso Service Station site on Ipswich Road, Annerley. This building was constructed from timber with 12 inch stumps underneath. The stumps were about ten feet apart all through the lower level and the working floor area was only dirt.

The upper level of this building was occupied by a motor mechanic. One of Ashley's fondest memories of this time was when the mechanic would drain a radiator from a car he was working on. He would release the water from the radiator directly onto the floor. The water would then flow straight through the floor giving everyone below an unexpected shower. To keep the water from falling directly onto a newly painted car, cardboard was then strategically nailed to the underneath of the floor bearers to direct the flow of water outside.

From these humble beginnings, Excel Body Works has grown to be one of the leaders in the Smash Repair Industry, operating from our current premises for over 26 years. With room for over 40 cars, three dedicated chassis repair bays and separate paint areas, Excel Body Works has the best and most up-to-date equipped workshop in the Brisbane metropolitan area.
